WILLIAMSBURG CAMPUS CHILD CARE

SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

Williamsburg Campus Child Care (WCCC) social media sites shall comply with the following standards and policies, including but not limited to the WCCC Facebook page for use by WCCC alumni and friends. WCCC social media sites shall be moderated by WCCC or its agent for compliance with WCCC’s social media policy. “User” shall mean any individual, business or organization posting to or commenting on WCCC social media sites.

  1. WCCC permits comments from users over the age of 13 years old which relate to WCCC, its alumni and friends and WCCC activities, in conformity with the purpose for which the social media site was created. Prior to participation, users shall request approval to participate on WCCC social media (e.g. Facebook “friend” request), which shall be granted or declined by the moderator as provided in these policies. Users shall provide a name and email address (and if representing an organization, the name, address, telephone number and email address of the organization with which the user is associated) as part of the request to participate.

  1. WCCC does not permit comments which do not pertain to WCCC, promote or advertise products and services, or which contain abusive, offensive, threatening or harassing language. Personal attacks of any kind or offensive terms that target specific individuals or groups are not permitted.

  1. WCCC social media is deemed to be public unless otherwise stated. Content posted by users shall be deemed to be in the public domain and users should have no expectation of privacy in posted content. Users should not post information they wish to remain private. Users should not post personally identifiable information such as social security numbers, addresses and telephone numbers. Comments containing such information will be removed by the moderator.

  1. WCCC will not post photos or other information regarding children currently enrolled in the center on social media sites without written permission from the child’s parent or legal guardian. Photos or other information regarding minors or other individuals contributed to social media sites by users are the sole responsibility of the user submitting said photos or information.

  1. Linked content of embedded hyperlinks within any WCCC social media shall be evaluated prior to posting. Any posted hyperlinks shall be accompanied by a disclaimer stating the WCCC does not guarantee the authenticity, accuracy, appropriateness or security of the link, website or content linked.

  1. To the extent feasible, attached content shall be scanned using antivirus technology prior to posting. However, WCCC shall have no liability for any virus or defect contained in any material submitted by users.

  1. WCCC shall not be responsible for any infringement of intellectual property rights in any comment or material submitted by users. WCCC may remove comments and material from WCCC social media upon receipt of notice of any such intellectual property infringement claim pertaining to comments or other material submitted by users.

  1. Privacy policies of the host web site shall apply to WCCC social media as applicable (e.g. www.facebook.com/about/privacy/).

  1. Comment and opinions posted by users shall not be deemed to be those of WCCC, it staff, officers or agents. WCCC shall not liable for any loss or damage resulting from any comments posted to WCCC social media. Communications on WCCC social media shall in no way constitute legal or official notice by WCCC for any purpose. WCCC social media sites may not be used for the submission of any claim, demand, informal or formal complaint or any other form of legal or administrative notice or process, or for the exhaustion of any legal and/or administrative remedy.

  1. WCCC’s social media policy may be amended from time to time in the sole discretion of WCCC.

  1. WCCC reserves the right to remove comments or posts at any time or to reject comments or posts which fail to comply with these standards. WCCC reserves to block future submissions from users who fail to comply with these standards. WCCC reserves the right to discontinue any social media account at any time in its sole discretion.

At the October 20, 2015 meeting of the WCCC Board of Directors, the Directors by Motion agreed to review the social media policy and, assuming such policy once reviewed was acceptable, the Directors agreed to notify the Board of their consent and approval of the adoption of the policy. All voting directors have provided such consent and affirmative vote via email as of October 22, 2015, and by unanimous vote, the policy is adopted effective on October 22, 2015.
